Programs for Children and Adults of All Ages
LaCAN (Louisiana Council’s Advocacy Network)

LaCAN furthers the Council’s mission by advocating for policies and systems that support inclusion everywhere people learn, work, live, and play. LaCAN advocates for service systems that support children and adults with disabilities to live in their own homes and be fully included and participating members of their local schools and communities.

Programs for Children 0-3

EarlySteps is Louisiana’s Early Intervention System for children ages birth to 3 with disabilities and developmental delays and their families. By providing resources and support during these critical years, EarlySteps helps children jumpstart their lives. Click here.

The Prism Project

The Prism Project of Greater NOLA (TPP of GNO) is an inclusive performing arts program for children with and without special needs, ages 6 – 14, in the Greater New Orleans region. Click here.

Programs for Young Adults 16-22
Coding for Youth with Autism – Pathway Out of Poverty

In January 2019, Families Helping Families NOLA developed Coding for Youth with Autism – Pathway Out of Poverty, a win-win-WIN program to train and place transitioning youth with autism in meaningful and well-paying in-demand workforce occupations. Click here.

Programs for Children & Adults 21 and Under
Children and Youth with Special Healthcare Needs (CYSHN)

CYSHN serves Louisiana residents under the age of 21 who are diagnosed or suspected to have certain chronic physical illnesses or serious disabilities. These illnesses and disabilities are likely to cause impairments which could significantly limit major life activities. Outside of the direct service clinics, CYSHN connects caregivers and families to relevant resources, collaborates with health and social service providers to improve service provision and care coordination, and works to build up systems of support for children and youth with special healthcare needs. People First of NOLA is a self-advocacy group for adults with disabilities, by adults with disabilities. Click here.

Education Advocacy
Education Advocacy

FHF NOLA is dedicated to disability advocacy and supporting children to be educated in the least restrictive environment. Our advocates provide workshops, presentations, and one-on-one support.  Click here.
